Consistent with the current work, Ju and colleagues reported that the expression of STAT3 increased in proportion to the severity of synovitis in RA synovial tissue using immunostaining methods, and transfection with STAT3 siRNA in CD4+ T cells prevented Th17 differentiation from RA peripheral blood and synovial fluid but increased the proportion of Treg cells. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is rheumatoid arthritis.
