Moreover, we found that PARP1 driven apoptosis is probably lower in healthy persons, as indicated by the lower levels of the 89 kDa fragment, in comparison to patients with CLL, a fact that is compatible with the basic speculation that PARP1 driven apoptosis is an indicator of DNA damage which is fundamental in the pathogenesis of CLL and neoplasia in general. This evidence concerns the gene PARP1 and B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
