Moreover, we found that PARP1 driven apoptosis is probably lower in healthy persons, as indicated by the lower levels of the 89 kDa fragment, in comparison to patients with CLL, a fact that is compatible with the basic speculation that PARP1 driven apoptosis is an indicator of DNA damage which is fundamental in the pathogenesis of CLL and neoplasia in general.
