The EMT process is the consequence of a molecular reprogramming of the cells consisting in an increased expression of mesenchymal type genes, like the mesenchymal N-cadherin (CDH2) which facilitates tumor cell binding to the stroma, and in a decreased expression of epithelial type genes, like E-cadherin (CDH1) which allows cell-cell interactions. This evidence concerns the gene CDH2 and neoplasm.
