In a study conducted to investigate known cardiovascular risk factors that influence mortality in elderly population, Zhang et al. [11] found that left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), LDL and HDL cholesterol levels, albumin level, and creatinine clearance rate (CCR) were significantly lower and the incidence of atrial fibrillation was higher in the patients with all-cause mortality than in the survived patients. This evidence concerns the gene ALB and atrial fibrillation.
