To further evaluate the influence of age and its possible interaction with NT-proBNP levels in the context of obesity, we divided the cohort into elderly (≥65 yrs) and nonelderly (<65 yrs), and found that the relationship of obesity and decreased NT-proBNP levels persisted in both nonelderly and elderly (P<0.05), respectively. Here, NPPB is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
