Ranibizumab, an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) monoclonal antibody fragment, was developed specifically to treat age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Here, VEGFA is linked to age-related macular degeneration.
