Last but not least, it has been shown that FHL2 can compete with p53 for binding the transcription factor E4F1 in human osteosarcoma U2OS cells and inhibit the anti-proliferative functions of E4F1 by inhibiting its transcription repressor function and p53 binding activity of E4F1 in the cells [26].
