Using cBioPortal [15],[16] to investigate the genomics and transcriptomics of TCGA breast cancer patients [12], we observed frequent amplifications in the genes MIR30C1 and MIR30C2, which encode the same mature miRNA, hsa-mir-30c, as well as many patients with significant (absolute value of Z-score > =2.0) changes in the levels of hsa-mir-30c (Figure 1A). Here, MIR30C2 is linked to breast carcinoma.
