Using a screening strategy that has been applied to cancer research in our institution [16], we found AS events significantly associated with PDB, but not with p62P392L, in six genes: LGALS8, RHOT1, CASC4, USP4, TBC1D25, and PIDD. While gene selection biases may have been present in both the detection and validation screens, as, for economic reasons, not all known AS events were screened, the identification of the six candidate genes from this small subset underscores potentially significant role of AS in the development and progression of PDB. This evidence concerns the gene RHOT1 and cancer.
