Monocyte recruitment via chemokine receptors has been linked to the development of inflammatory diseases such as atherosclerosis and cancer [20], [21], and an increased expression of the monocyte/macrophage chemoattractant CX3CL1 has been observed in cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease [22], [23]. Here, CX3CL1 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
