YWHAE is a gene encoding 14-3-3epsilon, one of the DISC1-interacting molecules that is thought to play a crucial role in neuronal development via transport of the NudE-like (NUDEL)/lissencephaly-1 (LIS1) complex [13], [21], and is a possible susceptibility gene for schizophrenia as identified in a Japanese population [22]. The gene discussed is YWHAE; the disease is schizophrenia.
