Zernecke et al. reported a correlation between the expression of MIF and an increased intima-media thickness and also with lipid deposition in carotid artery plaques [4]; White et al. reported a proinflammatory role for MIF in acute myocardial infarction [24]; Müller et al. demonstrated that the expression of MIF is significantly higher in ACS patients [15]. Here, MIF is linked to myocardial infarction.
