Figure 2 demonstrates the gradual increase in levels of schistosome-specific total IgG in healthy participants, while in schistosome infected patients, total IgG levels did not change significantly with age. For total IgG, IgG1, IgG3 and IgG4, but not IgG2, the youngest age group showed significant differences in antibody levels dependent on infection, with the infected individuals showing greater antibody levels compared to the uninfected individuals (Figure 2). This evidence concerns the gene IGHG3 and infection.
