Using an acute model of trinitrobenzenesulfonic acid- (TNBS-) induced colitis, Zhang et al. [114] have demonstrated that IL-17R knockout mice are significantly protected against colonic inflammation, even though they have equivalent amounts of local IL-23 and higher levels of IL-12p70 and IFNγ in comparison to wild-type mice. This evidence concerns the gene IL17RA and colitis.
