It is interesting to note that among the different B cell lymphoma and lymphoproliferations associated with EBV, the EBNA3s are usually not expressed in Burkitt's lymphoma cells where a translocation involving the MYC gene results in MYC overexpression, whereas the EBNA3s expression—at least that of EBNA3A and EBNA3C—is central for efficient proliferation of EBV growth-transformed LCLs. This evidence concerns the gene MYC and B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
