As clinical application of KGF has been approved from FDA for the treatment of patients with haematological or head and neck cancers to prevent oral mucositis [21,22], and considering the beneficial effect of KGF on vaginal mucosa illustrated in the present study, we believe that clinical trials testing this strategy in humans are sufficiently warranted, and we hope that it could be readily translated into therapy to improve the quality of life for post-menopausal women.
