Previous work reported by Zhao et al. [3] has shown that a ketogenic diet (KD) or caprylic triglyceride [4] stalls the impairment of motor function and reduces death of motor neurons in the spinal cord of transgenic ALS mice (SOD1-G93A) by restoring energy metabolism through ketone body utilization. This evidence concerns the gene SOD1 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
