SERPIND1 and infection: The 28-mer peptide, KYE28 of helix D is cationic and amphipathic [26], features shared with not only a helix A-derived peptide of HCII, but also the classical cathelicidin LL-37 [27] as well as C-terminal peptides of human thrombin, previously shown to be effective in experimental models of endotoxin shock and/or invasive infection [24], [25], [28], [29].
