Interestingly, SRC3- and RIP140-deficient mice are resistant to obesity and hepatic steatosis, suggesting that the upregulation of these genes observed in anti-miR-33-treated mice might result in lipid accumulation in the liver (Leonardsson et al, 2004; Coste et al, 2008). The gene discussed is NCOA3; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
