Our results corroborate the findings in other studies that showedimprovement of the immune status of tuberculosis patients who received seleniumsupplementation.(27,30) Thus, despite the limitations of the present study (small sample oftuberculosis patients and inclusion of male patients only), our results suggest thatselenium levels and CRP/albumin ratio can be used as biomarkers of therapeutic responsein pulmonary tuberculosis. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and tuberculosis.
