We found both risk- and survival-associating variants in five genes: TMPRSS1, TMPRSS2, TMPRSS3, TMPRSS7, and HGF. More important, we found that the more breast cancer risk-associating or survival-associating variants from this gene family the women had, the higher the risk of developing breast cancer or dying of it. The gene discussed is TMPRSS2; the disease is breast carcinoma.
