This study had the following aims: (1) to investigate the levels of serum creatinine, cystatin C, and plasma and urine NGAL over time during the early post-burn period; (2) to estimate the diagnostic utility of the cystatin C and plasma and urine NGAL levels for predicting AKI and mortality in patients with major burn injuries; and (3) to determine the relationships between the levels of these biomarkers and the burn sizes and inhalation injuries, which are known prognostic factors for burn injuries. Here, LCN2 is linked to acute kidney injury.
