On the other hand, probucol alone and probucol plus cilostazol in combination led to a significant decrease in total- and LDL-cholesterol levels in ApoE KO mice fed the HFD, suggesting that the beneficial effects of probucol and cilostazol in stroke with hypercholesterolemia may be due, not to lowering body weight, but only in part to lipid-lowering properties of the drugs.
