Pseudohypoparathyroidism (PHP) is caused by insensitivity to parathormone (PTH), and the majority of cases are associated with insufficiency of the G protein stimulatory alpha subunit (Gs-α).1 In PHP type 1a (OMIM #103580), additional features may include obesity, short stature, brachydactyly, ectopic ossification and cognitive impairment. Here, GNAS is linked to pseudohypoparathyroidism type 1A.
