Interestingly, NRPs were recently reported to be involved in EMT in several studies [28], [29], with the evidence indicating the presence of elevated levels of the specific epithelial markers in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) cells in which NRP-1 expression was knocked down, with a concomitant decrease in the expression of specific mesenchymal markers [30]. The gene discussed is NRP1; the disease is renal cell carcinoma.
