Notwithstanding the report by Tokuyama H and colleagues, showing disease mitigation with simultaneous blockade of CCR2, CCR5 and CXCR3 by TAK779 a non-peptide inhibitor [27], here, we have shown that DSS-induced colitis of CXCR3 KO mice alone resulted in markedly attenuated disease severity, as demonstrated by decreased fecal scores, clinical and histopathological signs, reduced body weight loss, and reduction in recruited proinflammatory cells and associated cytokines. Here, CXCR3 is linked to colitis.
