Although a previous study has reported attenuated DSS-induced colitis by simultaneous blockage of chemokine receptors CCR2, CCR5 and CXCR3 [27], we demonstrate that CXCR3-deficient (KO) mice alone challenged with dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) are resistant to the development of experimental colitis. The gene discussed is CXCR3; the disease is colitis.
