MBP and myeloid sarcoma: GA, a synthetic analogue of myelin basic protein (MBP), is a random polypeptide composed of the amino acids L-glutamic acid, L-lysine, L-alanine, and L-tyrosine, and its mechanism of action in MS may lie in preferential differentiation of Treg and Th2 helper cells (Duda et al., 2000; Weber et al., 2007), a Th1 to Th2 shift, and upregulation of anti-inflammatory cytokines (Schrempf and Ziemssen, 2007).
