Osteosarcoma cells share many similar features to undifferentiated osteoprogenitors including a high proliferative capacity, resistance to apoptosis and similar expression profiles of many osteogenic markers such as connective tissue growth factor, runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osterix and osteocalcin [9], [10]. This evidence concerns the gene RUNX2 and osteosarcoma.
