TGFBR1 and colorectal carcinoma: The transforming growth factor β receptor type 1 (TGFBR1) gene is an attractive candidate as TGF-β signalling plays an important role in the control of a range of biological functions associated with colon carcinogenesis including tissue homeostasis, angiogenesis, inflammation, proliferation and cellular differentiation and has and has also been implicated in both the suppression and promotion of CRC (see [1] for a recent review).
