The CYP2R1 SNP was individually associated with reduced diastolic blood pressure (per allele, β −0·09 mm Hg, 95% CI −0·18 to −0·01; p=0·03) and reduced odds of hypertension (OR for increase per allele, 0·98, 0·96–1·00; p=0·02), but no individual associations were seen for the DHCR7 SNP, or either of the downstream metabolism SNPs (GC and CYP24A1), with any of the blood pressure outcomes (appendix pp 41–43). This evidence concerns the gene CYP24A1 and hypertensive disorder.
