Because PAF-AH hydrolyzes platelet-activating factor (PAF) and oxidizes phospholipids with a modified short fatty acyl chain esterified at the sn-2 position [3], PAF-AH plays an important role in human diseases such as severe anaphylaxis [4], rheumatic diseases [5], acute respiratory distress syndrome [6], necrotizing enterocolitis [7], and atherosclerosis [8].
