In another study (Yeh et al., 2009), the transgenic zebrafish strain tg(hsp:AML-ETO) was used to screen for chemical modifiers of AML1-ETO, an oncogenic fusion protein that is prevalent in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) that results in hematopoietic dysregulation in fish and elicits a malignant phenotype similar to human AML. The gene discussed is RUNX1; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
