Several components of metabolic abnormalities have been related to low levels of adiponectin such as; the risk of obesity especially intra-abdominal body fat distribution (7, 14), insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia (7, 15), low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) levels, high levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL), apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides (TG) (7, 16). Here, ADIPOQ is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
