In both uninfected mice and infected mice that do not yet have established granulomas (5 weeks post-infection), 80–90% of the CX3CR1-GFP+ cells were CD45+ and only 10–20% are CD45− (Figure 5D and 5E), indicating that they are mostly intravascular when granulomas are not present. The gene discussed is PTPRC; the disease is infection.
