CREB1 and cocaine dependence: We used several behavioral paradigms to model different aspects that are of relevance to cocaine addiction, and found that expression of A-CREB in D1R expressing neurons enhances the acute psychomotor properties of cocaine and augments cocaine conditioned responses such as development and expression of behavioral sensitization, conditioned locomotion, CPP and priming-induced reinstatement of an extinguished CPP response, while the primary reinforcing effects of cocaine, as assessed in the self-administration paradigm was not affected at a training dose of 0.5 mg/kg/infusion.
