In healthy individuals iNKT cells expanded upon stimulation with α-GalCer or acetyl-β-GalCers accompanied by robust cytokine secretion [200,201] including secretion of cytokines associated with Th1 cells (IFN-γ), Th17 cells (IL-17, TNF-α) and both pro-inflammatory (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) and anti-inflammatory responses (IL-10) while the anergy of human MS circulating lymphocytes is consistent with previous iNKT cell usage and probably reflects saturation of the iTCR by GL antigen. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is myeloid sarcoma.
