APOE and type 1 diabetes mellitus: Although at fasting the triglyceride-content of the chylomicrons was similar between the groups, patients with type 1 diabetes had lower chylomicron triglyceride concentrations [AUC 1.15 (0.87-1.86) vs. 1.72 (1.10-1.869); p = 0.037] postprandially.ApoE, a regulator of chylomicron turn-over, was lower in patients with type 1 diabetes at fasting [T1D vs. control 20.2 (12.1-25.3) vs. 24.4 (18.8-32.4 mg/dL); p = 0.022] and postprandially [AUC 194 (144–253) vs. 260 (202–330); p = 0.001] (Figure 3).
