Here we describe such a model, using C. elegans containing loss of function mutations in dnj-14 (the worm orthologue of the DNAJC5 gene mutated in ANCL); and demonstrate its potential for chemical genetic screening, by identifying a sir-2.1-independent neuroprotective effect of resveratrol. The gene discussed is DNAJC5; the disease is adult neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis.
