Our data however, shows no evidence for antagonism of chloroquine and gefitinib in EGFR M+ cells in vitro or in vivo. Furthermore, when chloroquine was added to the combination of MK2206 and gefitinib in HCC-827 cells, it significantly increased apoptosis in vitro and decreased tumor growth of xenografts, suggesting that autophagy may provide a survival mechanism in the context of AKT inhibition. This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and neoplasm.
