VIM and breast carcinoma: We observed the down-regulation of genes involved in breast cancer tumorigenesis (BRCA1, DKK1, CLAUDIN1), tumor cell progression (NOTCH3, MAML2, VIMENTIN), multidrug resistance (VTRNA1-1), cell cycle progression (E2F8A), DNA reparation (BRCA1), metastasis (VIMENTIN, BRMS1L) and the up-regulation of genes involved in the inhibition of angiogenesis (CXCL10), apoptosis (CASP4), repressor of metastasis (BRMS1L) or genes involved in cell proliferation inhibition (CSE), among others (Fig. 3A).
