MTOR and cancer: Since activation of the PI3K-Akt-mTOR signaling pathway is used by cancer cells and viruses to trigger the Warburg effect [11]–[13], and it is also required for the effective replication of vertebrate viruses [14]–[17], in the second part of this study, we use in vivo drug treatments to investigate whether WSSV also uses this signal pathway to trigger the Warburg effect.
