In determining if the genotype modifies the interaction between citrus consumption, HPV16 and cancer risk, there was an increased risk of cancer found in individuals with one G allele to SLC23A2-5 polymorphism, HPV16 seropositive and high citrus consumption (OR, 7.4; 95% CI, 3.6–15.1). The gene discussed is SLC23A2; the disease is cancer.
