A number of studies have shown that UTI is able to effectively reduce the levels of serum proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1, IL-6 and IL-8) in patients with pyemia and promote the synthesis and secretion of the inhibitory proinflammatory cytokine IL-10 to have a bidirectional regulatory effect on the inflammatory response and thus relieve an excessive inflammatory response (14,24). This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and bacterial urinary tract infection.
