Five of six FISH-positive cases demonstrated aneuploidy of RREB1 and CCND1, whereas one ulcerated melanoma with eventual LN and distant metastases demonstrated aneuploidy in only CCND1. Gerami et al previously showed that CCND1 gains correlate with poor prognosis in cutaneous malignant melanoma 17, whereas RREB1 has the greatest sensitivity for melanoma (RREB1, 72.9% vs CCND1, 20% for superficial spreading melanoma) 18. The gene discussed is CCND1; the disease is superficial spreading melanoma.
