A comparison of the REST occupancy in differentiated cell types (T cells and neurons) with the 13 cancer-derived cell lines revealed that several tumor suppressor genes (OSMR, MYO1A, THRB, FRMD3, LOXL4, CEACAM3, TRH) were bound by REST in all of the cancer cell lines, but in neither neurons nor T cells. This evidence concerns the gene LOXL4 and cancer.
