Martin et al.[19] studied 40 mechanically ventilated patients with ARDS, and found that the addition of intravenous albumin to an infusion of furosemide, compared with furosemide infusion alone, is beneficial in patients with ARDS, resulting in improved volume of diuresis and improved oxygenation, as well as improved hemodynamic stability during diuresis[19]. The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is acute respiratory distress syndrome.
