TP53 and neoplasm: Since many of the damaging stresses can support cell transformation, the p53 family, and here again, mostly p53 itself, thus act as tumor suppressors by inducing cell cycle arrest, temporary or permanent senescence, apoptosis, and differentiation (Vousden and Lane, 2007; Levine and Oren, 2009; Vousden and Prives, 2009; Roemer, 2012).
