The intracranial calcifications along the midline that we observe in zebrafish embryos have, so far, not been reported in individuals with ENPP1 mutations; however, an individual suffering from hypophosphatasia due to a KLOTHO mutation has been diagnosed with calcifications along the midline of the brain (Ichikawa et al., 2007). The gene discussed is ENPP1; the disease is hypophosphatasia.
