From the 76 deregulated genes (25 down and 51 upregulated) in the spinal cord of 80 days old presymptomatic ALS mice, only eight genes (Actg1, Adora, Akt1, App, Dctn1, Kif1a, Sirt2, and Stmn1) or related molecules have been studied in the context of ALS. The gene discussed is DCTN1; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
