Vesely’s group studied the effect of four peptides (long-acting natriuretic peptide, vessel dilator, kaliuretic peptide and atrial natriuretic peptide) on the cancer cells; they concluded that the mechanism of decrease in the number of cancer cells was via inhibition of DNA synthesis, mediated in part by cyclic GMP; they did not, however, investigate the role of NPR-A in cancer. The gene discussed is NPR1; the disease is cancer.
